Just announced today. having just picked up a Canon G10 as a walk around compact camera solution yet longing for a ultra compact rangefinder styled SLR. Panasonic has announced this gem. After Olympus released the Pen series dSLR looks that finally camera companies are making micro dSLR cameras geared to the photographer. Something that gives them the creative control but the compactness of a walk around street camera of the old days.

Now to wait for October when it is slated to be available in the US.

1) They just didn't show up (no excuse for this). Chance to work with me in the future: None, screwed yourself.

2) Went out last not and drank too much (not too responsible): Chance to reschedule: maybe 10% since your canceling at the last possible minute schrew up my plans and wasting time.

3) I haven't worked out in two weeks (a shoot scheduled a month and a half in advance, shouldn't your ass be at the gym knowing it was coming up??) Chance on rescheduling: About 50%

4) After trying to contact a model 3 time the week preceeding the shoot she finally got back to me the day of the shoot saying she hasn't checked her messages and since she hadn't heard from me (WTF answer your phone or check your messages) she thought it was canceled. Then she goes on to give a bunch of extra excuses as if that really matters at this point. make note. If you haven't heard me say the shoot is canceled then it isn't. Chance to reschedule: None, ignoring your messaging services and not following up on your own behalf is plain stupidity.

5) When a model kept no showing on me I finally laid out the law about being responsible and perhaps calling me to say you can't make it. Her response was "I have a life!" Um, so do I and it requires that I show others some consideration when I can't keep my obligations. Courtesy and considerate behavior can get you far with me. Being a brat gets you shown the door. Chance to work with me in the future: Don't even bother.

6) I got pulled over for a speeding ticket. They are making me leave my car since my tags are expired??? The next day the model posted new shots from a shoot....seems suspicious. Chance to work with me in the future: Slim to none...something was shady.

7) While in Florida visiting and shooting a model called wanting to reschedule a shoot. Since I was booked up for a moth I said I could leave FL early and drive back to have the later afternoon to shoot. After getting up at the plumbers crack of pre dawn and trekking 8 hours to NC. I talked to the model on the way. She said she was getting ready and was leaving so e would hit Greensboro around the same time. She said she would call me when she was on the road. She never called or showed up. She didn't answer her pone or messages. Since her profiles on modelmayhem.com says she has signed in recently I glad she wasn't involved in a accident or something. However this is pretty douchey since I did get up ay 4am and bust ass to get back for a freaking TFP shoot.

Whats in it for me?

In the beginning when I decided to buy some lighting equipment and venture into shooting models and people it was hard to find a model. Begging, pleading, stalking and sometimes cold hard cash was necessary to find someone to give me a few hours of their time to model while I figured out how to set my lights. Fortunate for me my first attempt wasn't too bad and gave me something positive to build on the next time I could get another model guinea pig.

This was three years ago. The first year I was lucky to get maybe two shoots n a month with someone other than myself as a lighting subject. I hate being in front of the camera but I do have a impressive amount of self portraits. I learned pretty quick what to do with lights and moved on to editing and retouching. I've been a shooting and editing machine since the beginning and it paid off. I recruited models of of myspace and other networking sites and started getting a bit of attention. I did what the industry calls TFP.

TFP or Trade For Prints is more like TFCD Trade For Compact Disc (of pictures). Good for learning, experimenting and building a body of work. Hopefully with each shoot you get better. The better you get, the better more experienced models you can work with...for nothing but your time.

Much has changed in just the past year. I now work professionally as a photographer for a marketing company. Mosty shooting commercial products we distribute and produce. I do my personal work in my spare time....and I work alot. My passion, persistence and sacrifice has paid off tremendously. Thing is...there just isn't room for much TFP work. There has to be a purpose and valueable reason to do it.

How will shooting you help me? TFP doesn't pay bills or help upgrade constantly depreciating equipment. I know every guy tells you your pretty and should model but that won't make you a good model for me. I don't decline TFP shoot because I find someone unattractive. Unless you can improve upon those I have already worked with then your gonna have to pay to play.

I've been published and I make my living at this gig. Just in the past few months I have been flown to cities to shoot, been around celebrities and my Model Mayhem account gets bombarded with comments, requests, TAGs and messages every day. It's strange to be popular for my work and sought after to work with. I appreciate it but TFP is very limited select people. If your Heidi Klum...yeah I would shoot you for free.

This past week I got insight into my potential and value as a photographer and creative. I got to photograph one of the most beatiful models as of yet for me. She paid me for my time because she understand the value of having good photos in her port. She understands how that will propel her career as a model and get the attention of clients who want to book her.

We all suck!
